Brenda Kinsman, LMFT

I have lived in the Pacific Northwest all my life. I married my high school sweetheart in 1987 and am the mother of three grown children. I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking and gardening. I also spend considerable time in the kitchen cooking and baking. One of my favorite activities is gathering friends and family to prepare and share a meal together.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I completed my Masters of Science degree at Seattle Pacific University. I have been counseling at Pine Lake Covenant Church since 2002 and before that worked at Auburn Free Methodist Church. I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Washington with a B.S. in Psychology. It was at the University that I first realized a keen interest in working with couples. I work with individuals, and families but my area of expertise is with couples.

My specific area of study is in Narrative theory which postulates that individuals and systems co-create, with their community, narratives about themselves and their relationships that help define who they are. When the stories created are no longer sufficient for the health and wholeness of the individual or system, it is then time to create a new story. I see my role as making space for and co-authoring new stories with my clients.
